Tactics

So after taking that dip my tactics went up. New high rating of 1615 and I'm usually in the mid 1500's. Doing these tactical problems have shown me a few things. First the area I'm weak at.

This may be hard to see, but hopefully it's visible. It shows that I'm not very good at trapped pieces, defense and desperado and am only average at a lot of the themes. I'm hoping to use this information to refine my tactical study and improve and hopefully raise my success percentages.

It'll be tough to do, but I'm going to attempt to fit it in. Unfortunately, outside of tactical problems, I haven't managed to study or go over grandmaster games very often. I plan on making improvements in my time management for these things. i.e. too much netflix not enough study lol.

Apparently I'm stupid

Well I don't know how it happens. I don't know what I can do to fix it, but my tactics have now went in the toilet. I'm lost damn near 200 points in two days. I am once again missing ones that I should obviously see and it is fucking pissing me off. Then they'll have ones seven moves long claim it's a 1350 - 1370 rating and it's pretty obvious it isn't. Serious what the fuck. Either I'm too fucking stupid to learn anything by doing tactics or I'm just out right stupid and should sit vapidly in front of a t.v. like the rest of the fucking world. I mean fuck! Why am I not getting better? What the fuck am I doing wrong?

Correspondence tournament win

I won my first online correspondence tournament win. After losing the first two, I was feeling a bit down, but managed to pull off a victory in the one I'll post below. He blundered into a mate in one at the end, but he had a difficult position as it was. After a lull to start, my tactical vision is starting to come back. Since I am a premium member I am able to see where my tactical weaknesses are and can hopefully find a way to focus on them and make them strengths.
We have my mother's dog, Bonnie, and she seems to be enjoying her stay with us. We leave the door open so she is able to wander in and out as she pleases. Kristine spoils her rotten. It has been hot and muggy making for some very uncomfortable days. I don't really have much else to add at this moment, so until next time I bid you a good day.

Back since I have a computer again

Back to playing some chess after some time off due to sharing a computer. Since I finally have my own again I've been playing some online correspondence games. I even entered a correspondence tournament. I'm not doing very well in it, but at least it's enjoyable.  I am not playing any guitar currently due to some pain in my fretting hand. I'm not sure if it's arthritis setting in or just damage from when I used to bowl, but it has been in pain.
My chess tactics do not seem to be improving. It's odd when looking at my stats on it. Things that I should have down cold I don't i.e. basic checkmates and mate in one, but some of the more advanced things I do much better at.  I'm open to any comments or suggestions of getting these basics down cold. I'm already creating a basic checkmate database to go over in the hopes of commiting those patterns to memory.
Things in real life are at least on an even level. Nothing great, but nothing horrible. Hopefully it can stay that way for a while.
